Client Success Story

Meet Olivia – Age 4

Challenge: Olivia’s parents were concerned about her limited vocabulary and difficulty forming sentences. At age four, she struggled to express her needs and often became frustrated during interactions.

Intervention Approach:

  • Conducted a comprehensive language assessment to identify specific delays.
  • Created a tailored treatment plan with weekly individual speech therapy sessions.
  • Used play-based language therapy, visual supports, and parent coaching to reinforce learning at home.
  • Collaborated with Olivia’s preschool educators for continuity of strategies.

Progress and Outcomes: After 6 months of consistent therapy, Olivia now uses full sentences, asks questions, and confidently engages with her peers. Her vocabulary has more than doubled, and frustration-related behaviours have significantly reduced.

Dietetics FAQs

Do I need a referral to see a dietitian?

No, you don’t need a referral to see a dietitian. However, if your GP provides a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates on some dietetic services.

What happens during my first appointment with a dietitian?

In your first session, the dietitian will discuss your health history, lifestyle, and current eating and drinking habits. Together, you’ll set realistic goals and develop a personalized food and nutrition plan to support your health.

Can a dietitian help with weight loss?

Yes! Our dietitian offers individualised plans that promote sustainable weight (fat) loss based on balanced nutrition principles, helping you meet your goals in a healthy and realistic way.

Are dietetic services covered by Medicare or private health insurance?

Dietetic services may be partially covered by Medicare if you have a CDM plan from your GP. Most private health insurance providers also offer rebates for dietetic services, so check with your insurer.

Are you able to support NDIS-funded clients?

Yes, our Dietitian is a Verified NDIS provider, and can support all NDIS-funded clients. Our dietitian can work with you to develop a tailored food and nutrition plan that aligns with your NDIS goals and needs.

How do I know if I need to see a dietitian?

If you have specific health goals, chronic health issues like diabetes, heart disease or their risk factors, food allergies/intolerances, or if you’re just looking to improve your general nutrition, a dietitian can provide valuable guidance and support.

How often should I see a dietitian?

This depends on your goals and health needs. Some people benefit from regular check-ins, while others may only need occasional follow-ups. Your dietitian will work out a recommended schedule with you.

Can I see a dietitian via telehealth?
