What is
Vision Services?
Vision Therapy / Orthoptics is best described as “physiotherapy for the eyes & brain”. Vision Therapy goes beyond how well a person can SEE and manages:
• How both eyes are working together
• What information is being sent to the brain and
• What the brain is doing with that information
In some cases, one eye might not send information as well as the other (known as a lazy eye), in other cases the eyes don’t rest or move together the way they should (known as an eye turn).
There are also times when there is nothing wrong with the eyes at all, but learning is challenging because of how the brain is receiving the information (known as perceptual skills)
Vision therapy is like going to the gym – regular sessions with a therapist (personal trainer) will help patients (children & adults) work towards a goal to make working & learning easier.
